Part 1: Methodological prerequisites
                     Abstract

The work within the paradigm of cortical linguistics requires an especially solid methodological foundation because of the hidden nature of its object of research. There is a risk that a researcher may construct "models" of cortical representation and functioning of language based naively on observations of linguistic behaviour in laboratory situations or in natural contexts, and get models with doubtful or not even valuable validity by this way. On the level of scientific methodology a discussion must be held on which quality standards the hypotheses and and results of cortical linguistics must fulfill, and which methods (which may include traditional methods of linguistics as well) can be applied.
